On the 20th April the university of Huddersfield invited several industry professionals to do portfolio reviews for the final year photography students, for this I met with photo editor, and head of audio and visual media for the Yorkshire Post, Marisa Cashill. I showed Cashill the latest test book for my project on medical misogyny ‘I see this in girls your age’, which includes a short essay to contextualize what medical misogyny is, followed by a sequence of images and quotes from participants, before ending with transcriptions of participant interviews and a collage of handwritten notes on their feelings and experiences. Cashill was extremely helpful in offering suggestions to refine the book such as pointing out cropping adjustments I could make or experiment with on some images, and proposing I include some writings of my own experience after the interview transcriptions. It was a very rewarding and insightful experience to get to discuss my work with Cashill and hear her thoughts on it as a professional.
