Recycled Photo-book Exhibition

Featured in Format photo-festival 2023 was an exhibition of photo-books which demonstrated various ways recycled materials can be incorporated into the making, the exhibition was also interactive encouraging visitors to pick up and read through the books with a seating area available to take the books to if you wish to spend more time looking through and discussing them.

The exhibition had a range of book styles and binding types, from a photo-book with handmade scrap pieces of paper taped together for pages, to books with covers that fold out into four parts to reveal the inside, or ones which contain smaller books inside. There were also a variety of artists featured in the exhibition, from emerging self-published pieces to more well-known works such as Monsanto by Mathieu Asselin.

The event was a brilliant opportunity for artists looking for inspiration for book presentation and methods of making environmentally friendly books. Additionally, it also created a space for those looking to meet new people to talk about art with. My only criticism of this exhibition is that the space holding the photo-books was a small meaning it got crowded easier.
